Mag type detection

Have a segmented optical sensor that high can read dot patterns marked on a magazine to identify if it’s a straight (15 round), banana (18) or Koda (22).

What do you think about NFC/RFID? It will probably not fit in the magwell, but the sensor could be on the side of the magwell, and sense through the plastic. Wouldn't really be an elegant solution though.

Yeah. NFC/RFID would be an expensive solution if you have a lot of mags. My original thought was to mark the mag in a specific area with something like a silver marker with a specific dot pattern. Maybe 1 for 15 round, 2 dots for 18 round and 3 dots for 22 round (settable in the firmware of course. A slim profile matrix optical sensor would be able to read the dots and adjust the ammo count accordingly

Yeah but that's not retrofittable to V2. NFC stickers are actually reasonably priced: https://www.ebay.de/itm/153871910608 <7€ for 10 pcs. It wouldn't be a very elegant solution though - I have no idea how to route the wires and so on without destroying the whole look and feel
