This Primal Server installation Failed.

Hi, team.
Thanks for your effort for building this primal cache server.
I was tried to install this server on my local several times but I have failed all.
There were too many version conflicts.

nix develop $drv --unpack
cd postgresql-16.*
nix develop $drv --configure
nix develop $drv --build
nix develop $drv --install

I think this code in shell.nix caused error that .drv files are not supported directly anymore.
And if I try to install this according to readme file, I have other errors.
Is there anyone who installed and run this server recently?
Please let me know nix version and share pg_primal/Cargo.lock.
I am stuck on this for several days and if anyone help my installation, it would be appreciate.

pg_primal/Cargo.lock that was missing is added. thanks for reporting! i also had to do some other corrections. you should be able to try this sequence of commands:

git clone --recursive https://github.com/PrimalHQ/primal-server
cd primal-server
nix shell github:NixOS/nixpkgs/nixos-25.05#nix
nix --version # => nix (Nix) 2.28.3
nix develop -c sh -c '$setup_postgres $PWD/var/pg $PWD/var/pgdata'
nix develop -c sh -c '$setup_pg_extensions'
nix develop -c sh -c '$start_postgres'
nix develop -c sh -c '$init_postgres_schema'
nix develop -c sh -c '$start_primal_server'

go to https://primal.net/settings/network and switch cache server to ws://127.0.0.1:8801/ you should see green circle which means that primal webapp is successfully connected to local primal cache server.

after some time if you open https://primal.net/search/kind%3A1 you should see latest notes (from global feed) that were fetched from nostr relays and imported into local primal cache server.

since this is clean installation of simple configuration of primal cache server postgresql database will be empty in the beginning. there is line in start.jl with auto_fetch_missing_events = true. that configures it to automatically fetch missing events on-demand which is different mode of operation than long-running server where it is only fetching and importing latest events from relays and it doesn't have to go and fetch missing events on-demand because it already probably has it all.

some advanced features of the primal cache server are disabled by default, like media import and caching.

When I tried to run again according to your instruction, it seems be run.
I should fixed submodule url of ws-connector/pgwire to url = https://github.com/sunng87/pgwire.git
Because I have no permission for that repository.
if you update it, it would be better.

Btw, when I run cache server, I can't still home feeds.

I think it was because there is no home-feeds.json.
