many fixes also apply to v7

some of my pull requests (#11 #18 #21 #31 #33 and #36) fixed bugs that also apply to v7, but I only modified experimental. we should also apply them to v7 (and the version on turbowarp, as some of the fixes are for issues on turbowarp). if it is convinient I can create a pull request updating v7 with these changes.
