Handle select custom-field updates requiring data_type/extra_data

QA testing shows PATCH updates for select custom fields fail unless data_type=select and extra_data.select_options are included. Name-only updates for select fields return 400. Track adding a UX guard (pre-fetch current field or document the requirement).
