I'm trying to see which event gets triggered at which point in nsys traces, but despite naming events with nvtx they only show up with an event id.
In some (older) documentation, I've come across a warning that these functions aren't actually implemented.
Such a comment seems to be absent in the current version.

So, is event naming actually supported, and if so, how could I get event names to show up in nsys.
If not, it would be really good if there was a big warning sign on these functions.

At present, I don't see an implementation of nvtxNameCuEvent in Nsight Systems or in CUPTI. That may answer your question for now. I will look into resolving this.

We will not add a warning to NVTX headers and documentation, because the status of implementation depends on whatever tool is being used as the injection backend, which is distinct from NVTX itself.
