These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Monadic DNA Explorer web application (“Service,” “App,” or “Platform”), operated by Recherché Inc., a Delaware corporation headquartered in New York City (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Monadic DNA Explorer is a genetic research and educational platform designed to let users explore genetic variants in the context of published Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS).
Its primary purpose is to advance scientific understanding and research literacy, not to provide health or diagnostic advice.
By using the Service, you confirm that you:
- Have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy (incorporated by reference).
- Have the authority and legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
Through Monadic DNA Explorer, users can:
- Upload genotype data (e.g., from 23andMe or AncestryDNA).
- Explore published GWAS data curated by the NHGRI-EBI GWAS Catalog.
- Apply research filters and view quality scores for each study.
- Optionally use private AI-based interpretation via Nillion’s nilAI, which runs computations inside Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs).
The Service is designed for temporary, in-session use, uploaded data is processed locally or transiently in memory.
We do not permanently store or retain user data on our servers.
This Service is for research and educational use only. You must not use it to:
- Diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition.
- Make health, lifestyle, or genetic decisions.
- Replace professional healthcare or counseling advice.
Results represent population-level associations and should not be interpreted as medical or deterministic findings.
You must be 18 years or older to use this Service.
If you upload data belonging to someone else, you confirm that you have legal authorization to do so.
Uploaded data is processed locally in your browser or transiently in encrypted memory during an active session. We do not permanently store, back up, or retain user data after the session ends.
Analysis results (containing specific matched SNPs and calculated risk scores, not your full genetic file) are kept in memory only during your session and are automatically deleted when you close the browser or navigate away from the application. If you wish to preserve your results, you may manually export them as a JSON file to your local device using the export feature. We recommend that you:
- Store exported files securely on encrypted storage
- Delete exported files when no longer needed
- Never upload exported files to cloud services or unsecured locations
You retain full ownership of your uploaded data.
By using the Service, you grant Recherché Inc. a temporary, limited license to process that data solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
We do not currently support or require user accounts or contact information. Because we do not collect user identifiers, we cannot send individualized notifications (including policy updates or incident alerts).
However, in the event of a security incident, policy change, or other material update, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through:
- Prominent in-app banner displayed on the application homepage
- Public announcement on our official social media channels (Twitter/X, LinkedIn)
- Notice posted in our public GitHub repository
You are encouraged to periodically check the application and our official channels for important announcements.
Optional AI-based analysis is powered by Nillion Network’s nilAI, which executes computations inside Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs).
- Processing occurs outside our infrastructure.
- Data is encrypted end-to-end.
- Neither Recherché Inc. nor Nillion can access plaintext data.
Recherché Inc. is not responsible for any security breaches, malfeasance, or data incidents that occur within Nillion’s systems.
We use publicly available GWAS data from the NHGRI-EBI GWAS Catalog.
We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of third-party research data.
We use Google Analytics to collect non-identifiable, aggregated usage statistics to understand how users interact with the Service.
- IP addresses are anonymized.
- No personal identifiers are collected.
- Advertising and remarketing features are disabled.
- You can opt out via browser settings or Google’s Analytics Opt-Out extension.
Analytics data is never combined with uploaded genetic data.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful, research-related purposes. You must not:
- Use the Service for medical or clinical applications.
- Upload data you do not have rights to.
- Reverse engineer, automate, or exploit the platform.
- Redistribute Service content for commercial purposes.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
- The Monadic DNA Explorer software, design, and content are owned by Recherché Inc.
- “Monadic DNA Explorer” and associated marks are trademarks of Recherché Inc.
- You retain ownership of your data; generated results are licensed for personal and research use only.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.”
We disclaim all warranties of accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
We make no warranties regarding:
- Third-party systems (e.g., Nillion, Google Analytics).
- Uninterrupted or error-free service operation.
- Scientific validity of GWAS study data.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Recherché Inc. shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- Total liability shall not exceed the greater of $100 or any fees paid in the past 12 months.
- Recherché Inc. is not liable for security breaches, data handling, or retention by third-party services (including Nillion or Google Analytics).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Recherché Inc. from any claims, damages, or losses arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Service.
- Your uploaded data.
- Any reliance on the Service’s research results.
Your privacy is governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains:
- How we process and protect uploaded genetic data.
- How we use anonymized analytics to improve the Service.
- Your rights and controls regarding cookies and analytics.
We may update these Terms periodically.
Because we do not collect user contact information, we cannot send notifications.
The latest version will always be available on our public website and Github repository.
We may suspend or discontinue access at any time.
When you end your session, all uploaded data is deleted automatically.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New York State, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Disputes not subject to arbitration shall be resolved in the courts of New York County, NY.
