Inconsistent painting of command line vs. overlapping F9 menu

Is this issue reproducible using the latest version of Midnight Commander?

How to reproduce

Open the F9 menu. Resize the window vertically so that this menu conflicts with the command line.

Expected behavior

Consistent behavior, preferably the menu overwriring the command line (first screenshot).

Actual behavior

Totally random (roughly 50-50%) one of these two:

Is it perhaps related to the subshell asynchronously redisplaying its prompt?? Otherwise what could cause the randomness??
