I developed this script to apply group 2 and make a zoo file out of usgs time series data, or model data that has been put into the pseudo usgs daily timerseries form.

I applied it to create boxplots with error for all 3 gages of interest.

This is great @benhdye -- the larger variation shown by the model is interesting to me.

Two things:

• present model & gage for a single location with the same y-axis to allow easier visual comparison.
• I'd also like to see the overall minimum value for each month. I think this could be done in a box-plot with both model and gage on the same plot to provide an easy way to visually see differences.

@rburghol hopefully this addresses both of your inquiries with one set of plots.

I created a new script using the same methodology to make the single boxplots, but instead plot both model and observed data on the same boxplot, as well as calculating and labelling the minimum flow values for both types of recorded data.

Hey @benhdye this is super illuminating, and will be helpful though I was not thinking of this. I actually wanted a bar chart of just the lowest in each month for model/usgs so no box/whisker.

It IS super interesting to note that while the abs lowest values appear to be lower for model (at Strasburg and Mount j), the median and range are def higher in fall/winter if not all months. So the bar plot I am looking for will tell us this.

I created the bar charts to show the magnitude of modelled and observed minimum flow, and made sure the time series was the same dates so it's from October 1984 to September 2014.
