UX - when activating the plugin, ideally it should be active on reload

currently activating the plugin reloads the tab, but does not activate the plugin.

would be great if we could follow a similar floe to spector.

- press to activate (instant refresh, no popup)
- refreshes and the plugin is visible and active.
