Affected app version
1.8.0
Affected Android/Custom ROM version
Nothing OS 4.0 (Android 16)
Affected device model
Nothing Phone (3a)
How did you install the app?
F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid
Steps to reproduce the bug
Have a .mid OR .midi music file up next in playlist or queue
Expected behavior
Either:
- Use Android's built-in MIDI API to synthesize the song,
- Use a USB/BT/software MIDI device to synthesize the song,
OR:
- Skip the file entirely
Actual behavior
Playback halts upon MIDI entering "Now Playing". Using in-app controls to skip the song resumes playback after skipping, but using Android's media controls (wireless or software) requires pressing Play after skipping.

Additional information
The device is bone stock, running the official Nothing release of Nothing OS v4.0, which is based off of Android 16. Reproducible on my other Android device (Blu B170D, Android 15, installed via F-Droid) by simply having a MIDI file of any type in the queue.
The file "01 - S&K Title Screen" shown in the video is a MIDI (.mid) file that happened to be in the queue.
