Improve the Accessibility page to highlight both conference and digital accessibility #339

Just looking at https://fosdem.org/2026/practical/accessibility/

I think we can do better. I plan to propose a fist step in a pull request, but:

  • it focuses too much on physical limitations
  • misses the whole digital conference experience (and archive)
  • doesn't highlight what is possible for volunteers to do to support people with disabilities during the event
  • we need to remove "best effort" language and actually start making commitments to improve the infrastructure. Obviously we're not talking about installing more elevators ourselves.
  • having more information about about the event and will help people decide how they can best engage
  • We can clearly say that there is priority seating for poeple with disabilities at the conference.

This is a volunteer run event, but so are so many of our projects. People like us do things like this. If open source is the backbone for our digital world (which it is) we need to make it clear that we are making an effort to include people with disabilities.

We should be looking at https://www.w3.org/WAI/planning/statements/ as an example for this page.
