Having trouble

Hi there,

I'm having trouble getting this to successfully open a gold/brown chest. It seemed to examine the chest for clues until its down to 1 examination/guess left before making its best guess at opening it (is there any benefit in examining instead of guessing along the way?).

Did I just have crappy luck after not being able to successfully open one single chest after a few hours worth of cleaving or is something else amiss? I eventually gave up on AutoTorque and tried Windower's BoxDestroyer addon. I had much better luck entering whatever combination BoxDestroyer recommended, and eventually picked up a shiny torque after successfully opening roughly 20 chests.

I want to believe AutoTorque is superior to BoxDestroyer since it inputs the combination for you, but I haven't seen it even successfully open a single chest yet. Am I doing something wrong? Cleave mobs - target the right box - //at set - //at solve - cross fingers it works - rinse and repeat and seeing hours of chests despawning without a single opening.

Heya,

The box message IDs just need to be updated since they change often on game patches. You can use the make_messages python script included with boxdestroyer to update them yourself in the future, to do so run the python script, copy lines 2-59 in the generated messages.lua, and paste them over lines 78-135 in autotorque (Just replace the key/value pairs, dont change the table name).

Anyway, I manually pushed it to git for this month, I just haven't been playing much so I'll probably be forgetting to update the ids here on git. Go ahead and redownload it and lemme know if everything is good now.

Thanks, it did a bit better running the updated version. I managed to see it open a few chests this round, so that's definitely a plus.

With that said, I think a little more tweaking may be necessary. Using this last chest I had as an example at one of the 22:25:30 timestamps, the debug showed:

"Possible Combinations Remaining: 81, 83, solvable with confidence 50%"

With 2 hints left, rather than guess 81 or 83 (followed by the other number if it was wrong), AutoTorque asks for another clue (thx SE for worthless clues). So at 22:25:34 timestamp debug shows the same thing:

"Possible Combinations Remaining: 81, 83, solvable with confidence 50%"

Autotorque ended up guessing the wrong input and the chest despawned :( sad face because this could have been a successful opening if it was guessing more.

Meanwhile you'll see from the blue text in the log that boxdestoyer was telling me to guess 83 back when I still had 3 clues. I keep boxdestroyer running in the background while AutoTorque works its magic just to see how often both addons got the final combinations incorrect.

I want to like AutoTorque more since it offers greater automation. With that said, with the way things are, AutoTorque isn't saving much of any time if its resulting in more despawning boxes from a lack of guessing. If AutoTorque could be programed to start guessing earlier rather than waiting until the last hint then AutoTorque wins handsdown.

Again - appreciate the efforts and the support, even more so after hearing you're not playing much.
