[BUG] Pixel 6 Pro - Mic Not Working on Audio/Whatsapp Call

Silence on Audio/ Whatsapp Call
Mic works well on recorder App/ Instagram Voice Notes/ Whatsapp Voice Notes using Mic-Lock App, only audio Calling is facing issue. That works only when the Loud Speaker is on. Tried using tge Media Record Feature in MicLock but that didn't solve the issue.

• Mic-Lock Version: 1.1.0
• Installation Method: APK download
  To Reproduce
  Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to Whatsapp Audio Call
2. Click on Call
3. No sound on other side unless loud speaker is turned on.

Expected behavior
Voice being audible to listener without me turning on the loud speaker

Actual behavior
No voice on other side unless I turn my loud speaker ON

Audio Testing

• Tested with WhatsApp audio Call
• Tested with phone call
• Tried switching between MediaRecorder/AudioRecord modes
• Checked battery optimization settings

@k4wish Hey, well I investigate the issue and wasn't able to recreate the bug -> but
When calling on Whatsapp Audio Call without a speaker on my physical phone,

I did notice that sometime there is limited to no sound on the other side due to the fact that the microphone being used at is the earpiece one, but the app works as intended.

which means that the ear itself sometimes blocks the mic, for me positioning the head with some gap to the earpiece and sliding the mouth toward the front of the phone makes it much better.

anyways it doesn't seems like a bug in the software rather a frustrating inconvenience which I don't really have any other solutions other than speaking towards the earpiece microphone (or switching to speaker) 😕

If you find that even when speaking directly to the earpiece doesn't work let me know 🙏

Hi, thanks for letting me know I'll try to get a physical Google Pixel 6 Pro, but it might take some time..
BTW I just released a new version you can check if it solved the issue, tough it's very unlikly 🥲 .

If you don't mind helping and sendig me the dumpsys and logcat while using the whatsapp voice call without speaker this will help allot!
I'll explain how to do so:

Step 1: Install the “ADB” tool on your computer

ADB (Android Debug Bridge) is a tool that lets your phone communicate with your computer.

1. Go to this link: Download ADB Platform Tools
2. Download the version for your computer (Windows/Mac/Linux).
3. Extract the ZIP file to a folder you can remember (e.g., C:\ADB on Windows or ~/adb on Mac/Linux).

Step 2: Enable Developer Options on your phone

1. Open Settings → About Phone → Build Number.
2. Tap Build Number 7 times. You’ll see a message: “You are now a developer!”

Step 3: Enable USB Debugging

1. Open Settings → System → Developer Options.
2. Find USB Debugging and turn it ON.

Step 4: Connect your phone to your computer

1. Use a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer.
2. If prompted on your phone, allow USB Debugging from this computer.

Step 5: Open a Command Prompt / Terminal

• On Windows: Press Win + R, type cmd, press Enter.
• On Mac/Linux: Open the Terminal app.

Step 6: Go to the ADB folder

• On Windows:
  cd C:/ADB

• On Mac/Linux:

cd ~/adb

---

Step 7: Verify ADB connection

Type:

adb devices

• You should see your device listed. If not, make sure USB debugging is allowed.

Step 8: Start capturing logs

1. Keep your phone connected.

2. Type:

adb logcat -v time > logcat.txt

3. Leave this running.

4. On your phone, reproduce the bug:

• Open WhatsApp

• Make an audio call

• Do not turn on the loudspeaker (just like the bug happens)

Step 9: Stop the log capture

• Go back to your computer.

• Press Ctrl + C in the terminal.

• This will save the logs in the file logcat.txt in the same folder.

Step 10: Capture dumpsys (optional, helps more debugging)

• In the same terminal, type:

adb shell dumpsys audio > dumpsys_audio.txt

• This will create a file dumpsys_audio.txt.

Step 11: Send the files

• You should now have two files:

  • logcat.txt

  • dumpsys_audio.txt

Hi, it seems you guys experience the same issue on the same device.

Since I don't have access to a Google Pixel 6, and I really do need those logs to understand the problem.
I'll start working on a new update that will includes a built-in "Send Debug Logs" option.

Once the update is live, I’ll ping you guys here.
All you’ll need to do is click that button in the app, and it will generate the necessary data automatically so you can send it here.

Please update to the new version and start a recording, while the recording is open:

• minimize the app (don't close it - that will stop the recording)
• make normal use with your phone recreating the issue
• once finished (making a phone call and so on) go back to the app and click the menu button (⋮) → Stop recording & share.
• send the zip file with the logs in here 🙏

Hi @Dan8Oren I'm using google pixel 6 and the bottom mic stopped working when I replaced the battery. Then I started using only with speaker (As it was using the top mic when on speaker) or with earphones as the local repair shops didn't have the mic part for replacement. Then today I stumbled upon MicLock app and downloaded via playstore. I'm having a similar issue as OP (Mic works on voice note, voice recorder apps but not on audio calls, whatsapp calls). I'm attaching the logs collected.
