Is there an interest into making this module a Persona Bar module or is there not much interest since people use Google Analytics and other external systems ?

I know enterprises that are really sceptical with Google, and love the site log module as it contains every information they need. What would be nice would be CSV export and charts (managers love charts ;-)).

There is a feature that keeps coming back in all kinds of tenders which is an 'audit trail'. What instituations want is a back end feature that allows webmasters to view all kinds of activity done by editors (people with sufficient rights). This way you can detect if someone used an old login, created a login just before getting fired etc.

For inspiration: below some features from Drupal (often beating DNN as it has an audit trail)

1. Enable audit_log module, this will start logging all entity insert, update, view and delete
2. If you want to restrict what gets logged, it has an option to filter which entities needs logging and which actions needs to be logged.
3. You would need a search field and or date (from, to), ideally also sorting the columns
4. Columns could be: page, module name, module title, moduleID, action (create, edit, delete), Username, Date

The functionallity above, would be enough to answer positively to a tender. But...
Ideally, you would also know what has been changed. Mandeeps has a feature in the Live HTML that shows the selected versions and highlights the differences. I don't know if that would work for modules like ActionForm, for instance, but if this could apply to the HTMLmodule, it would already be a great benefit.

If you want a general solution, I think that the principle of ContentItems should be applied. SO no solution for each individual module, but an extension of ContentItems working. That is the way how most Content Management Systems work. General extensible content items.
DNN is more a Module Management System
