ez-reset marked as Trojan virus

Sorry but seems that the ez-reset file is marked as a Trojan:win32/Yomal!rfn from Microsoft. Also from VirusTotal same thing.

Yeah, unfortunately most executables created with pyinstaller get (falsely) flagged by security software since it's also a simple way people use to make malware. It'll also seem fishy to sandbox analysis tools since the first thing the program will do is enumerate all printers. I think certain versions/configurations of pyinstaller might get fewer false positives, but I haven't had time to look into it. Signing the executable would also help and would eliminate the SmartScreen notice, but that requires purchasing a certificate which is not in my plans.

If you need the tool and distrust the exe, you can clone this repo and run the source code directly via your local copy of Python. Feel free to also analyze the binary yourself, since it's a pyinstaller executable you can browse its contents with 7zip.

When I have the time, I'll look into creating a GitHub Actions workflow to build .exes the same way epson_print_conf does it, since I see that one has fewer false positives.

I'll leave this issue open until I can find a way to reliably avoid false positives on the executable.
