Odd garbled output on serial console?

Odd garbled output on serial console? Using a IndieDroid NOVA, using typical Armbian build, the serial console is as expected, text is formatted and readable. But with basic install of BredOS, get randmized junk. Serial connection setup not changed between OSes, 115200, 1 stop, 8 data, no XON/XOFF, no flow control. Any suggestions?

I tried to explicitly set the console baud rate to say 115200 but that did not produce any difference.
