SSLM should be able to handle subdirectories for each object. What I like to do is to put my files into a given structure, e.g.:
Sky
So when I select my root directory (sky), it discovers objects, correctly catalogs them, but shows 0 files per object because it only looks into the main directories (M101, M31) and one with dates.
